Assistive technology

Independant living solutions

Our specialist spinal injury lawyers work with our clients, their families and our case mangers to utilise assistive technology in order to provide independent living solutions.

Our suite of assistive technology products allows our spinally injured clients to control heating and lighting systems, gives them access to entertainment such as TV, radio and the internet and allows communication via telephone and email to be conducted in a manner which is complimentary to our clients needs.

Bespoke access devices

The technologies are controlled via computer systems that are installed throughout our client’s homes. In the vast majority of cases, those affected by spinal injury are unable to use a standard keyboard. As a result we utilise a wide range of access devices, such as gaze direction tracking, bespoke control keys, customised joysticks, hand positioning sensors, touch-screens, speech recognition and command recognition software. Our initial assessment identifies the access device that best fits our client’s needs to ensure ease of operation.

It is our in depth knowledge of this area coupled with the implementation of this cutting-edge technology that provides the key to re-establish long-term independence.
